REMANENCES* BETWEEN WORLDS

An Installation by Emma Ponsart

Emma is a fine Art master student at ESAG, Ecole Supérieure d’Art de Grenoble, in France. The work in this exhibition was made during a six-month residency in Nepal, with the partnership of the Alliance Française in Kathmandu. During her stay she found photographic archives made twenty years ago by her father in Nepal. These inspired her to experiment and make a poetic wandering with her photographs; like a score.

The protocol of her journey was to begin without a camera and experiment with her senses. Making her body became her first medium she recorded sounds and videos. Through landscape and movement her work questions our perception of the world and the origins and immateriality of our existence.

This project is an experiment and a reflection about the world. An attempt to find the essence of natural elements, through  reflections about the reality of elements. She envisions a world built through perception and sens-itive vision. Her exploration attempts to follow and question the essential.

This poetic vision creates devices and situations in which the audience becomes the “experimentateur” and in so doing changes their rapport to the world. They are given the time and possiblity to discover the sensual world and the endless possibilities between each world. Between worlds, between the beginning and the end, between the individual and infinity. To go through the real world, the reality behind the mask, the world between consciousness and unconsciousness, a poetic, utopian vision.
